Thanks for the links. The opensourcetemplates.org opening page, uh, it doesn't render properly in IE7 - the menu that is. Doesn't instill much faith in their product or lead me to believe their skills and techniques are the ones to follow. I swear, if clients want us to design compliant designs, then the browsers all need to follow suit and put out compliant browsers so that our compliant designs actually render properly. I'm just not sold on the whole "compliance" kick right now. My vote is, however, for standards and strict compliance of those standards by all browsers. That is what we should be pushing for at this point, we're getting ahead of ourselves wanting to design compliant websites when the browsers don't even support that! One step at time. Yes, demand the compliance, demand the browser developers step up and do their part before we start attempting the impossible task of compliance at this point. Because inevitably, if the browsers aren't working on compliance, it won't matter how compliant we program our websites, they will fall apart or break apart if there isn't a compliant platform for them to rest upon. I don't blame the designer, I don't blame the browser, I blame both for the disorganized mess and utter headaches that encompass the "compliance" kick everyone is on.

There isn't an easy way to have all the browsers to behave similarly. We just have to work with is available out there and not waiting for the next major release of a complaint-support browser.

Regarding those links in this posts, they are free and are helpful for many people to get started. By no means they represent best practices in the industry.

Just what I was looking for!

Does anyone know of any sites that explain how to convert html/css into dnn skin? I cannot find this info for the life of me!?!?...not for free at least. I see some, but you have to pay in order to view the video tutorial!

I would pay for the tutorial if you are in a hurry. If not, it's a learn as you go process with a long learning curve. I've been doing DNN skins for over 5 years now and still learn new tricks all the time. Another option is to pay someone else to do the conversion for you, but the cost is generally around $300 if you want good quality done right. I do offer that service myself. The Dotnetnuke forums, blogs, and documentation are also invaluable tools in learning the trade.
